How to Have a Healthy Fall
Well hello Fall! Every year, fall sneaks up seemingly overnight, signaling the official end of summer with its cooler temperatures and shorter days. This shift can be hard on our bodies and minds, so it’s important to take extra care to stay healthy and vibrant as the seasons change. Here our some ways to stay strong as we welcome in fall:
Get grounded. Take time to cultivate stillness as the seasons shift. This helps to keep things balanced. Try to reduce rushing and running around from place to place. Instead, focus on your home, making it cozy and warm for the cooler months to come. Light your favorite candle. Take a soothing bath. Your body will thank you for taking the time to slow down.
Set a rhythm. This one can be difficult but try to set regular meal times and bed times. Eating dinner and going to sleep at the same time each night helps keep your mind calm, and hopefully allows you some extra rest.
Eat warm, nourishing foods. Fall brings with it some of the most delicious meals. Think butternut squash, pumpkin, apples, and sweet potatoes. We’ll all miss the cold fresh vegetables of summer, but your body is ready to be warmed up. Soups are a great choice. Add in spices like ginger, cinnamon, or turmeric for added benefits.
Moisturize from the inside out. As fall is one of the driest seasons, make sure to up your water intake. Treat your skin from the outside with warm sesame or coconut oil.
Cleanse. Changes in season are the ideal time to cleanse, as it offers a good time to hit the reset button. Help support your digestive system by starting the day with warm water and lemon. Add apple cider vinegar for extra cleansing benefits. Juices with dark leafy greens and beets are also a great choice.
Get outside! Fall can be the most beautiful time of the year, and there are so many fun seasonal activities to choose from. Visit a local pumpkin patch or apple orchard. Watch the leaves change. Be thankful!
