Natural Skincare Favorites

We all know about the importance of a clean and healthy diet, but did you know that what you put on your skin is just as important? Our skin absorbs up to 60% percent of what we put on it, so knowing what’s in the products you use can make a huge difference in your skin’s appearance and in your overall health. Conventional skin and beauty products contain ingredients linked to skin problems, allergic reactions, hormonal imbalances, and reproductive issues. Fortunately, there are a ton of awesome natural products out there, almost too many! Picking out the perfect product can definitely be overwhelming. There are so many ingredients to keep track of – which ones are beneficial, which ones to stay away from – it’s hard to know where to start. Beyond that, how do you know if it's going to work? Just because something is 100% natural, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right for your skin type. Sometimes trial and error is the best strategy, but that can get expensive. To make things easier, here’s a round up of some current favorite natural products that are free of toxic ingredients, are gentle on the skin, but most importantly are effective.

Hair: Evolvh UltraShine Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner. This combo is free of sulfates, parabens, sodium chloride, and gluten, and they smell delicious. With ingredients including passion flower, nectarine, mango, and apricot, these both work great for all hair types.

Body Lotion: Pacifica Indian Coconut Nectar Body Butter. This luxurious lotion is free of parabens, phtlates, mineral oil, peanut oil, and petrolatum. It’s combination of kukui nut, macadamia nut, and rosehip seed oils are paired with shea and mango butters for a yummy scent and super soft skin.

Deodorant: Soapwalla Deodorant Cream. If you’ve ever tried a natural deodorant, you know it’s really difficult (and sometimes a little smelly) to find one that actually works. This one takes some getting used to, because it’s in cream form not a stick, but once you try it, you’ll be a convert! The cream uses superfine vegetable powders and clays to absorb moisture and help keep you smelling fresh all day long!

Eyes, Skin, Lips: RMS products are all around lovely. Their concealer (or “un” cover-up as they call it), is easily blendable, and is both lightweight and hydrating. The lip & skin balm helps smooth lips and comes in two delectable flavors - vanilla and coconut. The real stand out from this line it the Living Luminizer. If there ever was an it product, this is it. Made from certified organic ingredients (including all-star coconut oil), this one might just get you more compliments than anything else on the list. Apply to cheekbones for a natural glow, and wait for people to ask you your secret.

Sunscreen: Bare Republic Natural Mineral Sunscreen. This chemical free spray also contains no synthetic fragrances or parabens. The sport formula is water resistant for 80 minutes. The spray on makes application fast and easy, remember to reapply throughout the day!

Make-up removing wipes: Acure Unscented Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes. Sulfate, paraben, petroleum, and silicone free these wipes are 100% biodegradable and definitely won’t clog your pores. Use them to freshen up midday or at night when you’re a little too lazy to make it to the sink :)

Serum: Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Vitamin C Brightening Facial Serum. This one’s a doozy. It smells phenomenal, and feels glorious on your skin. Vitamin C has been proven to help brighten your skin, and this natural mix of almost 90% organic ingredients certainly does the trick. It’s on the pricier side, but a little goes along way.

There’s always awesome new products coming out, so this is definitely an evolving list. What are some of your natural favorites?
